The Reading 375 Celebration is in full swing! For a complete list of ALL events and celebrations happening now through June 15, check out Reading375.com. Here are a few of this week’s highlights:
Paint the Town Reception – Wednesday, June 5 – 6 PM
Paint the town is a downtown art walk that is part of the Reading 375 Celebration. Local artists have created more than forty works of art, all inspired by Reading. The art can be seen now through June 15 at the following venues:
Atlantic Framing, Edward Jones, Fusion Café
Goodhearts, J & B Crosby, Middlesex Animal Hospital
Northern Bank, Pleasant St. Center, Purple Door Paint Store
Reading Public Library, Simms Jewelers, Universal Financial Corp., Whitelam Books
The public is invited to a Paint the Town Reception on Wednesday, June 5 at 6 PM at the Pleasant Street Center. Mingle with the artists while enjoying live music.
Parker Tavern Events – Tickets Going Fast
This weekend Parker Tavern is hosting two evening events “under the tent” in celebration of Reading 375. Tickets are going fast, inventory is limited, and we do expect these events to sell out. Interested residents should purchase their tickets today at reading375.com.
Tavern at the Tavern – Friday, June 7 – 6 PM
Looking for a unique night out? Then Tavern at the Tavern is for you. Journey to our colonial past under the tent on the lawn of Parker Tavern. Enjoy 18th-century music, a light buffet dinner featuring New England classics, complimentary mead tasting, and a cash bar serving wine and beer. Toast Reading 375 while celebrating as they did in 1644. This once-in-a-generation celebration of our history is not to be missed. Smart Casual Attire. Tickets are $37.50 each and are available at Reading375.com.
Revelry at the Tavern – Saturday, June 8 – 7:30 PM
This elegant cocktail party under the tent at Parker Tavern will feature sumptuous hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, signature cocktails, and fun music. Toast Reading 375 at our most formal event. Cocktail attire. Tickets cost $37.50 each and are available at Reading375.com.
PorchFest
PorchFest is a free celebration of music and community. On Saturday, June 8 Reading will be treated to 46 different musical acts performing on front lawns, porches, and driveways all over town. Keep your eye out as you drive around Reading – several PorchFest participants already have their purple PorchFest lawn signs up! For a full list of musical acts and venues, see reading375.com.
Charter Day – Monday, June 10
Celebrate Reading’s actual birthday by wearing purple! Break out you Reading 375 t-shirts and pins and wear them with pride. If you haven’t bought yours yet, RCTV Studios and Reading Trophy and Shirt have been completely restocked with Reading 375 t-shirts, which cost $20.
Limited edition Reading 375 pins are available at Whitelam Books, Reading Cooperative Bank, The Town Clerk’s Office at Town Hall, and RCTV Studios for $3.75.
On Monday, June 10, head to the Residence at Pearl Street at 7 PM for Reading Speaks: Voices from the Past and Present. This unique and entertaining 45-minute oral timeline, told by more than 25 notable Reading residents, will tell the story of Reading from 1630 to the current day. The event finishes up with birthday cake for Reading!
About Reading 375: Reading 375 is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization whose goal is to bring our community together to celebrate Reading’s 375th anniversary in 2019. Events will occur over a two-week period, from May 31 – June 15, and will include local artists and musicians, architecture unique to Reading, and fun community gatherings. The Reading 375 Steering Committee hopes to create a town-wide celebration of Reading’s rich history and exciting future.
