Veteran’s Trust Fund Thanks Donors

Thanks are given for the generous donations that enabled the Veteran’s Memorial Trust Fund to cover the cost of placing a geranium at each of the over 2,200 veteran’s graves in Reading this past Memorial Day.  This tradition, started by General Logan in 1868, now, utilizes the Reading Veteran’s Memorial Trust Fund which was created in 2001.  Geraniums cost about $4,500 annually, but the interest from the trust fund does not cover the cost, due to low interest rates over the past several years.

memoiraldayThe Trust Fund needs new donors each year to maintain this tradition.  If you are interested in making a tax-deductable contribution, please send to the Veteran’s Memorial Trust Fund, ℅ Veteran’s Service Officer, 16 Lowell Street, Reading, MA 01867.  Checks can be made payable to the Veteran’s Memorial Trust Fund.  If a contribution is to be a tribute, include the name and address of the honoree so an acknowledgment can be sent.
