Fall is swap season, and two of our popular community-led swaps return: the Costume Swap for children ages 0–13 on September 26 (donations will be accepted beginning Monday, August 24), and the Puzzle and Game Swap on November 7. New this year, on October 10, we’ll have a Seasonal & Holiday Decor Swap.
Get to know the various plants growing right here on a Walk in the Town Forest on September 10. This is a rain or shine event; dress for the weather. And, on September 23, teens can learn all about sustainability and the latest decor trend, Cottage Core, with a special DIY craft workshop.
September is Latinx Heritage Month, and you can learn about current issues for the Latinx community and about allyship at a presentation by Latinos Unidos en Massachusetts (LUMA) on September 24.
The Library’s Reading is Revolutionary initiative continues on October 20 with Your Voice, Your Choice, when kids in grades 3–5 can learn more about civic responsibility and the role of protest while creating their own protest signs. Then, step back to the 1960s through the power of folk music when Art Grossman returns to the Library on October 29 with stories and songs of protest and hope.
Fall fun at the Library includes several rounds of trivia: just in time for the Emmys, TV Land Trivia on September 3, followed by Literary Trivia on October 15, and Marvel Cinematic Universe Trivia on November 19. Kids in grades 3–5 can learn the basics of Dungeons and Dragons on September 9, October 7, and November 4, or intermediate players can join a six-week campaign beginning September 14.
