Reading, MA — The Austin Prep varsity baseball team has opened the 2026 season in commanding fashion, improving to 4-0 in the NEPSAC conference with four consecutive shutouts to begin the spring.
The latest came on Saturday, April 4, when the Cougars delivered one of their most impressive team performances yet, defeating Phillips Exeter Academy, 3-0, behind a combined four-man no-hitter. Brady Andrews set the tone with five dominant innings before Aiden Green (1.1 innings), Brent Summerton (0.1 innings), and Chase Edgar (0.1 innings) combined to close the game and secure the hitless effort. It was a strong performance on the mound and an early statement for an Austin Prep team that has been nearly untouchable through its first four games.

The Cougars have now allowed just six hits across 26 innings this season while striking out 45 without allowing a run to score. Before Saturday’s no-hitter, Austin Prep defeated Kimball Union Academy, 2-0, Noble & Greenough, 8-0, and Marianapolis Prep, 10-0. Through four games, Austin Prep pitching has tossed a 3-hitter, 2-hitter, 1-hitter, and now a no-hitter.
That early success reflects both the depth of the roster and the team-first approach that continues to define Austin Prep baseball. Fourteen varsity players are already committed to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level, including Bradley McCafferty (Virginia), Nick Ranaldi (William & Mary), Lucas Sarno (NC State), Ryan Moreschi (UMass Lowell), Chase Edgar (Elon), Brady Andrews (Merrimack), Charlie Kubiet (Maine), Colten Landen (Loyola Marymount), Zachary Floyd (Virginia Tech), Aiden Green (Salve Regina), Brent Summerton (Salve Regina), Mike Brosnan (Washington College), Cam Jaena (Washington College), and Jack Redmond (Grinnell).
Austin Prep returns to the field on Monday, April 6, when the Cougars host Brewster Academy at 5 p.m. at Regis Paul Little Memorial Field in Reading.
