July 12, 1942 — March 8, 2026

Mary (Caterino) “Sue” Del Greco of Reading passed away on Sunday, March 8th, 2026, after a valiant battle with cancer. She was 83 years of age.
Born on Sunday, July 12, 1942, in Somerville, Massachusetts, Sue was the loving daughter of the late Francesco and Maria Caterino. Sue was a warm, kind, caring, and loyal daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She enjoyed nothing more than cooking for her family and always had a pot of meatballs and sauce or a platter of chicken cutlets sitting on the stove, to be followed by a batch of her beloved wine cookies.
In 1964, she married Peter, the love of her life, and together they raised their family in Reading, Massachusetts. She was the devoted mother of Joseph Del Greco and his wife Barbara, the late Frank Del Greco and his wife Maria, and Peter John Del Greco and his wife Sally. Sue was preceded in death by her brother, Angelo Caterino, and his wife, Rose Caterino. She was the cherished grandmother of Christina Del Greco, Michael Del Greco, Marissa Del Greco, and Henry Del Greco. After her grandchildren were born, Sue embraced the role of grandma, attending as many of their school and sports activities as she could. She and Peter enjoyed vacationing over the years with their sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren, particularly in Marco Island, Florida. For Sue, family was everything!
She graduated from St. Joseph’s School in Somerville in 1960, then spent many years working in various medical offices before happily retiring in 2007. An avid volunteer and dedicated to her church and community, Sue spent countless hours volunteering for her boy’s Cub Scout troops and at the various bake sales, rummage sales, and other fundraisers at St. Athanasius. In her retirement, she found joy and purpose in her knitting group, producing countless prayer shawls for those in need of comfort.
Sue’s devout faith in the goodness of our Lord and unwavering belief in the resurrection to eternal life grounded her throughout her life, particularly during the challenges she had faced over the past few years. Her family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and their support teams at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital for their compassionate medical care as well as to Marge Hurley and her team at Four Seasons Family services, Jamila Rammah, and the countless friends and family for their support and companionship over the last several years.
Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Sue’s family on Sunday, March 15th from 2-5pm at the Barile – Cota Family Funeral Home, 335 Park St., North Reading (Corner of Park St. and Rt. 28 at the Reading Line).
Funeral from the Barile – Cota Family Funeral Home, 335 Park St., North Reading (Corner of Park St. and Rt. 28 at the Reading Line) will be held on Monday, March 16th, 2026 at 9:30am, followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Sue’s Eternal Life in Saint Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St., Reading at 10:30am.
