Amie Belsito Decries Super Pacs & Outside Money In Congressional Campaign; Calls On Candidates To Sign People’s Pledge

Topsfield, MA – Former State Representative and Congressional candidate Jamie Belsito is calling on every candidate in the race for Massachusetts’ 6th Congressional District to join her in signing a people’s pledge to keep all Super PAC money out of next year’s election. She also announced that she will not take contributions from AIPAC, billionaires, corporate PACs, or the fossil fuel industry, and is urging the rest of the field to do the same.

“Money in politics is drowning out the voices of the people who make our communities strong,” Belsito said. “Families and workers across the North Shore are fighting to keep up, while billionaires and special interests buy their way into our political system. That’s not how a democracy should work, and it’s on us here in Massachusetts to lead by example.”

Belsito said, “I’m asking every candidate to join me in keeping Super PACs out of this race and rejecting some of the most harmful political influence in our system. If we want a government that delivers for families, small businesses, and local communities, then we need to start by refusing money that comes with strings attached.”

Belsito currently serves as Town Moderator in Topsfield, is a former State Representative, and is the founder of the Maternal Mental Health Leadership Alliance, where she has delivered major federal investments and national programs to support mothers and families.

A native of Reading, she and her husband live in Topsfield, where they are raising their two daughters.
