Cynthia Anne (Foote) Black, of Reading, MA, passed away peacefully after battling dementia for many years, on June 25, 2025, at the age of 76. She resided at Willow Brook Nursing Home in Wilmington, MA, where she was well loved and cared for by both staff and residents for the last three years. Our family will be forever grateful to them.
Born in Wellesley, MA., Cindy graduated from Wellesley High and then Vernon Court College in Newport, RI. It was while she was in college in Newport, she met her husband, stationed there in the US Navy, while hitchhiking. She loved to tell that story. Cindy was a long-time Reading resident involved in Newcomers and Neighbors and many local town groups. Professionally, Cindy was a nursery school teacher working the majority of her life at the lake in Wakefield, MA, at Mulberry Childcare and KinderCare Centers.
She was a loving and faithful wife of 52 years to the late William (Bud) Black (2021). She is survived by her children, Brian H. Black of Winchester, MA, and Sarah B. Kelley and her husband, Dennis, of Reading, MA. Also survived by her sister, Susan Rineer, and her longtime fiancé, Gil Snyder of North Hampton, NH. And not to be forgotten, her grand dog, Collins Josephine Kelley.
Funeral services and celebration will be held privately at a date later this summer.
