Reading, MA — The Reading Lions Club recently presented a check for $15,000 to Mass Lions Eye Research (MLERF) from the proceeds of the 2024 Journey For Sight 5k Road Race & 1 Mile Walk. Receiving the check on behalf of MLERF, District Governor Mark Alexander noted that Lions grants to MLERF are directed to local hospitals and doctors researching cures for preventable blindness. 100% of these funds are dedicated to research. Since 1951, Reading Lions has donated $336,000 to MLERF through the generosity of runners and race sponsors.
Thank you to all who contributed and supported the 2024 Journey for Sight, and to the Town of Reading Public Safety, Facilities, and Public Works for helping to make this race a success.
What’s next? In 2025, the Reading Lions and Friends of Reading Recreation Journey for Sight 5k Road Race turns 40! This year we are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Reading Lions Club/FORR Journey for Sight race and we hope you’ll join us on the road on Thursday, July 17 at Memorial Park. The Reading Lions Club has proudly served the community of Reading and surrounding communities for more than 75 years.
