Reading Police Department Arrest and Charge Saugus Man with OUI

READING – Chief David Clark reports that the Reading Police Department arrested and charged a Saugus man with operating under the influence. 

WILLIAM BOLANOS ZAMORA, AGE 40, of SAUGUS, is charged with: 

  • Operating Under the Influence of Liquor
  • Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Marked Lanes Violation
  • Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Speeding

On Friday, July 12, at about 8:29 p.m., a Reading Police officer performing traffic enforcement on Haverhill Street observed a white Ford Edge traveling southbound on Haverhill Street at a high rate of speed. 

Officers pulled out onto the roadway and followed the vehicle. During this time, the vehicle was observed crossing marked lanes. Officers then activated emergency lights and pulled the vehicle over in the area of Haverhill Street and Varney Circle.

An initial investigation revealed that the driver, identified as BOLANOS ZAMORA, was operating the vehicle with only a driver’s permit. There were no other occupants in the car. 

Officers also observed a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle and BOLANOS ZAMORA. Officers conducted a field sobriety test, which BOLANOS ZAMORA was unable to complete successfully. Police also determined that BOLANOS ZAMORA’s blood alcohol level was .18, more than twice the legal limit.

BOLANOS ZAMORA was arrested without incident and is scheduled to be arraigned in Woburn District Court on Monday, July 15. 

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
