Former Reading Rocket Captains Earn Liberty League All-Conference Honor

Two former Reading Memorial High School football captains—Eamon Centrella and Aidan Bekkenhuis—have been named to the Liberty League Second Team All-Conference for the 2025 season, highlighting standout years for both athletes at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).

Centrella, a starting offensive lineman, anchored an RPI front five that powered the league’s No. 1 scoring offense and helped produce 27 rushing touchdowns—most in the conference. He started all 10 games, continuing the durability and leadership he displayed as a Reading Rocket.

On the defensive side, Bekkenhuis earned Second Team honors as a defensive back. A key member of a secondary that finished third in the Liberty League in pass defense, he contributed consistent coverage all season. Bekkenhuis helped form one of the league’s strongest back-end pairings and was recognized for his impact in limiting big plays.

Their selections came as part of a strong postseason awards showing for RPI, which collected seven First Team selections, six Second Team honorees, and four Honorable Mentions following a season featuring the league’s top scoring offense and a strong defensive performance.

Additional Second Team selections for the Engineers included quarterback Anthony DeMatteo, offensive lineman Henry Frayne, linebacker Miles Lafferty, defensive back Cassius Johnson, and punter Anderson Burke.
