
MARLBOROUGH, Mass.— Babson College sophomore Timmy Mulvey (Reading, Mass.) was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Basketball Offensive Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon.
A 5’11” guard, Mulvey averaged 16.5 points on 68.8 percent shooting, was 9-of-13 (69.2 percent) from beyond the arc and dished out 3.5 assists to help Babson stay unbeaten with a pair of wins. The sophomore scored 11 points and handed out two assists in Tuesday’s 82-78 victory at Albertus Magnus and followed it up with a season-high 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting, which included a career-best six three-pointers, and five assists in Friday’s 83-79 triumph over No. 4 Tufts.
Last year’s NEWMAC Rookie of the Year, Mulvey is second on the team and 14th in the NEWMAC in scoring with 14.7 points per game. He is sixth in the league shooting 55.6 percent from the field (15-of-27), fifth in the NEWMAC with 60.0 percent from three-point range (12-of-20) and ranks second with 4.0 three-pointers per game. He is also tied for third in the NEWMAC with 4.0 assists while collecting 3.3 rebounds per outing for the Beavers.
Babson (3-0) is back in action on Tuesday with a non-conference contest at Lasell at 7 p.m. inside the Lasell Athletic Center.
