February 29, 1932 – July 12, 2025

Elizabeth A. Collins, RN, was a resident of Peabody for 10 years, having formerly lived in East Dennis with her husband for 20 years, and prior to that, in Reading, where they resided for 35 years. She passed away at her home in Brooksby Village, Peabody, on July 12, 2025. She was 93 years of age.
Elizabeth was born on February 29, 1932, in the Linden section of Malden, Massachusetts, the second daughter of the late Edward F. McCusker and Florence E. (Mullaney) McCusker. Elizabeth graduated from Cheverus High School and then went on to Saint Margaret’s Nursing School, where she became a Registered Nurse, a certification she maintained for many years. During her career, she worked at a number of hospitals located around the Boston area and in Washington, D.C., specializing as an Operating Room nurse.
Elizabeth was the beloved wife of the late Robert D. Collins for 65 years, devoted mother of Robert D. Collins Jr. and his wife Amy of Acton, Massachusetts, and Karen E. Collins of Morgantown, West Virginia. She was also the loving grandmother to Brianna E. Collins and Andrew D. Collins. She is survived by her sister, Gayle Rosato, and predeceased by her sister, Mary Connors, and brothers, Robert McCusker, Edward McCusker, and David McCusker.
Elizabeth’s funeral will be held from the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn Street (corner of Woburn Street) in Reading on Friday, July 18th at 9:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Agnes Church, 186 Woburn Street, Reading at 10:00 AM. Burial is private. Funeral home visiting hours will be Thursday, 17, from 4-7 PM.
