Dear Editor:

In response to Mrs. Williams comments about my letter concerning the Select Board meeting of 6/10/25, I disagree with her remarks. Mr. Haley presented a recording that he apparently at home from CPDC. He did not give a lot of details about how he made the recording, and I missed some details at the meeting, which had gone on for 3 hours at that point. Secondly, based on the “RCTV meeting notes” in the Select Board meeting packet, master power switches were to be installed in Town hall in early 2021. That they were installed is clear from the discussion at the 6/10/2025 meeting, ie access to those master power switches was discussed. The Town DOES have control of the recording equipment; the equipment was simply not turned off.

The Town (SB) could not identify who at Town hall was in charge of the recording equipment. The Town blames RCTV for recording and broadcasting meetings without permission. If the Town wants to discredit RCTV because of these lapses, then the Town needs to show that they were intentional. These lapses were most likely accidental recordings that occurred because no one in Town Hall shut off the equipment. That’s the Town’s fault. I certainly would not blame RCTV for that.
