Wakefield Arts and Crafts Society News

Wakefield, MA — The Wakefield Arts and Crafts Society held its annual Holiday Potluck lunch on Dec 3rd. We enjoyed two workshops, one of which was making a fabric ball led by Cathy Granese and the other, a decorated tree ornament from yarn led by Sandy Bates. Elaine Grosso is shown in the photo with a fabric ball. Next, we had a gift swap, in which members gifted handmade items to each other. During our lunch, we had jazzy holiday tunes by Tim McLaughlin and friends.

We joyfully welcome our three new members, Laura Sargent, Cathy Bartlett, and Pat Zingariello. New members can join at any time of year, and no prior crafting experience is required. Any member can lead a crafting workshop, and this allows us to host workshops that range from simple and fun to technical and challenging.

Our next meeting on January 7, 2025, will feature a workshop on landscape fabric collage as well as charity projects, including knitted prayer squares, hats, fleece items, and fabric bags for food pantries.

The Wakefield Arts and Crafts Society meets the first Tuesday of the month at the Wakefield-Lynnfield United Methodist Church, 273 Vernon Street in Wakefield. The building is handicap accessible.
