Reading Police Arrest and Charge Two for OUIs Following Two Separate Incidents Within an Hour

READING – Chief David Clark reports that the Reading Police Department arrested and charged a Billerica man and a Stoneham woman with Operating Under the Influence following two separate incidents. 

STEPHEN GRIFFIN, AGE 19, of BILLERICA, was arrested and charged with the following: 

  • Marked Lanes Violation
  • Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Speed Which is Greater than Reasonable
  • Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle
  • Operating Under the Influence of Liquor

On Aug. 16 at approximately 9:23 p.m., Reading Police were dispatched to the area of Main Street for reports of a two-vehicle crash. 

Upon arrival, officers observed a black Acura TL with significant front-end damage and a red Jeep Cherokee with significant damage on the left rear side.  

A preliminary investigation determined that the Jeep Cherokee was attempting to pull out of a parking lot and into the road when the Acura crashed into the side of it. 

While on-scene officers observed open beer cans inside the Acura. The driver of the Acura, identified as GRIFFIN, was placed under arrest without incident. While conducting a search of the vehicle, officers discovered several more open containers of alcohol, a BB gun, and an open container of marijuana. 

GRIFFIN was arraigned in Woburn District Court on Aug. 19.

ANGELA JULIANO, AGE 41, of STONEHAM, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Operating Under the Influence of Liquor
  • Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Failure to Stop at Red Light 

On Aug. 16 at approximately 10:25 p.m. Reading Police, operating in the area of Main Street, observed a blue 2008 Honda Civic travel southbound on Main Street and enter the intersection by Salem Street without stopping at the red light, almost causing a crash. 

Officers initiated their emergency lights and conducted a motor vehicle stop of the Civic. 

A preliminary investigation determined that the driver of the Civic, JULIANO was operating under the influence. During a field sobriety test, it was determined that JULIANO’s blood alcohol level was .183, over twice the legal limit.

JULIANO was arrested without incident and was arraigned in Woburn District Court on Aug. 19. 

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
