Reading Kicks Off Pride Month with Event on the Common

Reading, MA — It’s time to mark your calendars for the 4th annual Reading Pride Parade and Celebration, scheduled for June 1st. With music, games, children’s entertainer Bubbles McGee, and other surprises, this is an exciting event for Reading residents of all ages.

Hosted by Reading’s POP Huddle, the fun begins at 3:00pm in the Common. You can watch the parade from several cheering stations along the route, marked by flags on the map below. The parade ends back at the Common, so you can watch it from there as well. The event runs until 5:00pm and is held rain or shine.

Prizes will also be awarded to the best-decorated car and to the cheering station that shows the most Pride.

Event organizer Laura Wilson said, “This event is always special, but following the recent bomb threat that disrupted Pride Story Time at the library, this is a great opportunity for Reading to show our support and care for our LGBTQ+ neighbors and families.” She added, “Come join the fun!”

The parade began in 2021, and has gotten bigger and better every year, with one mom saying, “I’m so grateful for this event. My child has struggled with their LGBTQ+ journey and this parade made them feel seen,” adding, “I can’t tell you how much that means to our family.”
