Marjorie L. Potter, 92, a longtime Lynnfield resident, died Friday, March 8, at Salem Hospital.

She was born in Manchester, NH, on August 4, 1931, the daughter of the late George and Mary (Frazee) Flewelling.

Mrs. Potter was raised in Lynnfield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School. She was a member of both the Centre Congregational Church of Lynnfield and the Church of the Covenant of Boston, where she served as a deaconess. Mrs. Potter had worked more than 45 years as a librarian at the Lynnfield Public Library, just like her mother before her. She most enjoyed her time working in the Children’s Room. Additionally, Mrs. Potter was active in the Lynnfield Senior Center, always participating in a variety of classes; she was a member of the Get-Together Wheel at Centre Congregational Church and a Caller for the Centre Club and served on the nominating committee. She was an active participant in a book club with her friends and she very much looked forward to enjoying coffee with friends at Christine’s Café after attending exercise class at the Senior Center. Mrs. Potter was also a member of the Hot Spot Alumni.

She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Potter, with whom she shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. She was the loving mother of Nancy Potter-Desjardins and her husband, Peter Desjardins of Reading, Judith Potter and her husband, Steven Furey of Lynnfield, and Susan Potter-Alves and her husband, Licinio Alves of Portsmouth, RI. She was the sister of the late Kenneth Flewelling. She is survived by her three grandchildren: Roger Potter Furey and his wife Ariel Furey, John Potter Furey and his wife Dr. Jacqueline Potter Furey, and Julia Alves.
