Obituary: Robert J. Eaton, 75

Robert J Eaton, formerly of Jamaica Plain and Reading, died at the age of 75 on October 10, 2023, from complications related to Parkinson’s. Bob was a loving and devoted father to Mary McNeil of Beverly and Robert Eaton of Boston.

Bob, son of Mary Edith and Paul J Eaton of Jamaica Plain, is survived by Richard of Norwood, Betsy (Paul) Rotondi of Stoneham, Gerry (Nancy) of Scituate, and sister-in-law Irene Eaton of Gloucester. Bob was predeceased by siblings Paul, Anne MacKinnon Tiernan, and Tom. Bob was loved by fifteen nephews and nieces and twenty-nine grandnephews and grandnieces. 

A graduate of Catholic Memorial (1966) and Boston College, Bob served in the National Guard, had a long career in Sales and Marketing for the Yellow Pages, and was an accomplished marathoner. Bob was rich in friends. He will be fondly remembered for his laugh, jokes, smile, kindness, generosity, music, golf, and storytelling. Bob took great pleasure from the game of golf and the wonderful friends he made working as a caddy, in the pro shop, and as a greenskeeper at The Country Cub, and later as a proud supporter of the Francis Quimet Caddy Scholarship fund. Bob will be remembered as a DJ and friend to the residents and staff of the Life Care Center of Acton. He was grateful for the many friends he made and the loving care he received in his four years there. 

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday 11-Nov, at St Patrick’s, 71 Central St, Stoneham. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ouimet Scholarship.
