Del Sur Empanadas Coming to Main Street

Reading, MA — A new business, DelSur Empanadas, is coming to Main Street in the former location of Drew’s Stews at 489 Main Street, according to a banner stating, “Coming Soon ¡Empanadas!”. Owner Sebastian Corbat said he co-founded Del Sur with his wife Angelica in 2014.

“We thought of bringing the recipe of our childhood, I am from Argentina, and my wife is from Chile. We used to make empanadas at home with our parents, we are from different countries, different cultures, but we had empanadas in common,” Corbat told The Post.

Corbat acquired the location in June, operating as a kitchen factory for sales at local farmer’s markets and pop-up locations.

“We use all-natural ingredients; we can offer something that is easy, fun, and healthy for the whole family,” Cobat said.

Later this summer, he hopes to open a retail location offering fresh, ready-to-eat, and frozen empanadas to cook at home. The Reading Post will do a feature story on Del Sur once the retail store is open.
