John P. Breen, Jr. of North Andover, formerly of Reading, passed away on January 24, 2023, at the Brightview of North Andover. He was 77 years of age. John was born in Winchester, Massachusetts, on January 21, 1946, the son of the late John P. and Alice (McGee) Breen.
After graduating from Wakefield High School in 1965, John attended Lowell Technical College, and later Northeastern, earning degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration, with which he served a full career at Honeywell, later Hewlitt-Packard, until retiring in 2005. During this time, he and his wife Joan were invested in raising their boys and serving as lay ministers at St. Agnes Parish. Following the loss of Joan, John eventually met Cyndie, and together enjoyed live music, scenic photography, and time spent with their numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John was the beloved husband of Cynthia (Tutella) Breen and the late Joan (McHugh) Breen. Devoted father of John “Jay” P. Breen III of Methuen, Jeffrey M. Breen and his wife Heather of Tewksbury, step-father of Eric Faulkner and his wife Alyssa, Craig Faulkner and his wife Christine all of Lowell and Melissa Hood and her husband Erik of Billerica. Brother of Paula Rocheleau and her husband Larry of Reading and David Breen and his wife Uriwan of Yorba Linda, CA. Loving Grandfather of Mackenzie and Camden Breen and also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.
John’s funeral will be held from the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Friday, January 27 at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Agnes Church 186 Woburn St. Reading at 10:30am. Burial is private. Funeral Home visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00-7:00pm.
