Tanya Denise (Gage) Dewey of Millbury, Massachusetts, formerly of Reading and Lawrence, Massachusetts, passed away on December 12, 2022, at the Milford Regional Medical Center in Milford, Massachusetts. She was 71 years of age. Tanya was born in Malden, Massachusetts, on February 11, 1950, the daughter of the late Allen B. and Eva C. (Macrillo) Gage.
Tanya grew up in Reading and graduated from Reading Memorial High School class of 1969. She attended St. Agnes Church as a child. She attended CCD and made her first Holy Communion at St. Agnes Church as well. She was married in St. Agnes Church to her first husband Richard F. Starr in 1969. They lived in Wakefield for a short time, moved to Tewksbury and then moved to Lawrence. She was a loving mother to her three girls, Krissy, Laurie, and Jackie.
Tanya divorced in 1984 and was a single hard working mother for many years. She worked as a claims typist for both Kemper Insurance and Arbella Insurance Companies in Andover. She was also a Notary Public. She later married Edgar Gene Dewey in 2003 and moved back to Reading.
Tanya loved gardening, cooking and going camping with Edgar and their grandchildren in their fifth-wheel camper to bluegrass festivals all over New England, New York and some as far away as Jekyl Island in Georgia and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She traveled to many places with her daughter and son in law to visit family out of state and as a guest at educator’s conferences in Rochester, NY, and New Orleans, LA
Tanya was the beloved wife of the late Edgar G. Dewey. Devoted mother of Kristine (Starr) Dick and her husband Robert of Northbridge, MA; Laurie (Starr) Nett and her husband Christopher of Concord, NH; and Jacqueline (Starr) Hladek and her husband Stephen of Fairfield, CT. Step-mother of Adam J. Dewey and Travis S. Dewey. Loving grandmother of Courtney Starr Gosselin of Brattleboro, VT; Kyle John Gosselin of Nashua, NH; Angel Hanson of Haverhill, MA; and Sadie Rose Nett of Concord, MA and loving great grandmother of Jack. Cherished sister of Keith Richard Gage and his wife Wendy of Freedom, NH; Jason Lee Gage, Sr. and wife Robin of Reading, MA, Jamie Lee Gage of Billerica, MA; Jeffrey Lee Gage and his wife Laurie of Bow, NH, the late Ellen Jean (Gage) Drew; Roy Dwayne Gage, and Allen “Sonny” Benjamin Gage II. Tanya was very close to her cousin, Delores Palladino of Henniker, NH and her surviving sister in-laws Maryann Gage of Crossville, TN; and Mary Lou Gage of Gardner, MA. Tanya is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service celebrating Tanya’s life will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Monday, December 19 at 12:00pm. Burial will follow at Charles Lawn Cemetery in Reading. A visitation will be held prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
