William R. Hagstrom, a resident of Reading for 50 years, passed away on December 11, 2022, at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington. He was 77 years of age. William was born in Woburn, Massachusetts on February 13, 1945, the son of the late Gosta H. and Lillian I. (Josephson) Hagstrom.
Bill was an avid fisherman. He loved all types of fishing; saltwater, freshwater and ice fishing. He was a member of the Stony Brook Fish and Game Association for many years. Bill began his working career as a mechanical draftsman but changed his occupation to construction. Bill had a natural ability that enabled him to craft exceptional cabinetry and finish work.
Bill was the beloved husband of Mary T. (O’Leary) Hagstrom. Devoted father of Erik K. Hagstrom and his wife Kristen of Reading. Loving “Papa” to Emma, Ella, Sadie and Liam Hagstrom all of Reading. Cherished brother of Alice Alford and her husband John of Winchester and brother in-law of John O’Leary of Billerica and the late Margaret O’Leary. Bill also leaves several nephews and nieces.
A funeral service celebrating Bill’s life will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St., Reading on Friday, December 16 at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Wood End Cemetery in Reading. A visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00AM.
