Obituary: Rose (Pothier) Gagnon, 85

August 9, 1936 – April 6, 2022

Rose (Pothier) Gagnon, of Reading, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. She was 85 years of age.

Born in East Boston, Rose was the daughter of the late George and Madeline (Cotreau) Pothier. Rose was a loyal employee of the Stockyard Restaurant working as a waitress, since its opening, for 42 years. Rose has fond memories of the friends she made there. She was a long-time resident of Brighton, MA, where she housed many “sons” from the EF language school, many of whom she stayed close with over the years.  She came to Reading ten years ago and moved in with her eldest daughter, Cindy.

Since living in Reading, she did not miss a breakfast with her friends at The Last Corner Restaurant. Rose enjoyed more than 60 family vacations to the Margate on Lake Winnipesaukee.

Rose is the beloved wife of the late William Gagnon. She is the devoted mother of Cindy Larkin and her husband Bob and Cheryle Carson, and her husband Ken. She is the cherished grandmother, “Mimi”, of Mallorie Larkin, Nick Carbone, Bobby Larkin, Sabrina Larkin, Marlisa Larkin, and Justin Greelis, and the dear great grandmother of Tyler and Brantley Larkin.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. 

Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share memories with the family on Monday, April 11, 2022, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am in St. Athanasius Church 300 Haverhill St. READING followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Rose’s Eternal Life at 10:30. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
