William D. Hayes, a Reading resident for 45 years, formerly of Wakefield, passed away on March 30, 2022, at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center. He was 76 years of age.
William was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on May 29, 1945, the son of the late John J. and Mary (Mellan) Hayes. William was a retired tractor-trailer truck driver working for Cerretani’s, Purity Supreme and lastly Stop &Shop Super Markets. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Sheila, to Florida and the Caribbean Islands and he enjoyed working in his yard. William was a veteran of the Vietnam War proudly serving in the United States Navy.
William was the husband of Sheila M. (Keen) Hayes. Father of David J. Hayes of Reading and Annmarie Hayes of Lynnfield. Loving grandfather of Casey Hayes of Burlington and Alexander Hayes of Lynnfield. Brother of Robert Hayes of FL, Kathy Pfingston of WI, Betsy Fishman of FL and the Late John, Jr., James, and Patricia Hayes and Judith Bosanac. William is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and burial are private and there are no visiting hours.
