Whether you’re most interested in our schools, seniors, development, or anything else – this is your opportunity to have a government that acts on what is important to you. We need to elect people that will do the work and adopt policies that are important to all of us.
Only 2 out of 10 voters (20%) usually show up for our local elections. That means if a candidate gets a little more than 10% of all eligible votes, they are elected. Imagine that. It only takes slightly more than 1 out of 10 voters to decide how our government functions, operates, and prioritizes. This allows small, organized factions to control our government. That’s not the way this ought to work.
The goal should be that at least a majority of Readings voters (50%) participate in our elections. It’s a short trip for everyone to our high school. Our voting system is very well organized and efficient. It takes 5 minutes or less after you step inside to cast your vote.
The pandemic has changed our world forever. Reading’s residents need to take a few minutes and get to know the candidates – visit their websites, email them questions, or call them. Then decide who you think possesses the experience, demeanor, and character to represent you.
Most importantly, show up on election day (April 5 7am – 8 pm at RMHS) and vote!
