Denora C. Gannon, of Reading, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 18, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Recife, Brazil, she the beloved daughter of the late Julio and Alice Cariri do Couto. Denora immigrated to the United States in 1947.
She grew up in Mission Hill and Brookline where she raised her family. She settled in Reading and was a resident of Peter Sanborn Place for the past six years. Denora enjoyed life and spending time with her family! Her love was unconditional and everyone she came in contact with felt her love. For many years, she was the caregiver for Nate and Andrew, children of Karen Tucker and Jerry Avorn, MD. She was like a second mom and nana to many and her home was always open to all! Denora volunteered her time at the Reading Senior Center. She attended the Shapiro Rudolph Adult Day Center for five years and enjoyed the staff, entertainment, bingo and she made many friends in her time there. In addition to her abundant love for people and children, she enjoyed simple pleasures, such as flowers, butterflies, and interacting with others.
Her love was felt by everyone and will be deeply missed by her devoted family and countless friends.
Denora is the devoted mother of Joseph Gannon and his late wife Patricia Kadlick of Hanson, Alice Costa and her husband Gilbert of Danvers, Debi Gannon of Georgetown, Richard Moyette and his wife Jill of North Reading, the late Michael Gannon and his wife Sheila Gannon of FL, the late Diana Ribas, the late Raymond Moyette and his wife Simone Moyette and the late Kevin Gannon. Cherished grandmother of Genevieve Guellintz, Joseph and Johnny Gannon, Matt Costa, Michael, Jason and Chase Gannon, Sabrina Renna, Michael Balsamo, Judi Womack, Roxanne Moyette, Rachelle Erumsele, Raymond Moyette, Jr., Taylor Scopa, Morgan and Kevin Moyette, and the late Roger Costa. Loving great-grandmother of Emmaline, Caldor and Kingston Guelllintz, Nathan Marin, Amber, and Tristen Womack, Emelyn and Anika Gannon, Bello and Aviana Erumsele, Shane, Aiden, and Hunter Ramdhanie, Raymond Moyette, III, and one great-grandchild on the way. Beloved sister of Angela do Couto and she is predeceased by nine siblings, Manuel, Jorge, Braulio, Maria, Ivanise, Ruth, Jose, Martha, and Antonio. Denora also will be missed by her special aides Kerry and Lorana and nurses Dennis and Danielle.
Funeral From the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St. North Reading, on Wednesday, March 23 at 9:30 am followed by a funeral mass at St. Theresa’s Church 63 Winter St., North Reading at 10:30 am.
Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, North Reading.
