The Reading Select Board convened on the evening of June 9, 2021, to approve the operation of the former Daniels House on Middlesex Ave. (a $110,000) meeting.
The next item was presented by Board member Landy stated that she was working with the Rainbow group to put together a rally on the common. By the Charter change in 1985, the common is under the control of the Select Board.
With that control the Board voted 3-2 to allow the rainbow flag to be flown under the US flag on the flagpole on the common, will they never learn?
The Town council has from time to time advised the Board to not allow such action. While the Select Board feels they can control who can fly flags, in fact, it is THE FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION, if you allow one you must allow all, will they never learn, or will this cost the taxpayers another$ 100,000 or more?
