Mary S. (Murphy) Chicoine, a resident of Reading for 16 years formerly of Woodstock, Vermont passed away peacefully on April 15, 2021. She was 80 years of age.
Mary was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts on September 9, 1940, the daughter of the late Charles F. and Catherine (Slattery) Murphy. Mary attended and graduated from Norwich College in Vermont. She worked as an administrative assistant at Harvard University and then as a clerk at Stop & Shop for several years from which she retired. Mary loved to read, was an avid gardener, and loved cats.
Mary was the wife of the late Neil F. Chicoine, Sr., devoted mother of Richard M. Chicoine and his late wife Barbara of Haverhill, Janice M. Devlin and her husband Scott of Plaistow, NH, Kelly A. Ryan and her husband William of Reading and the late Neil F. Chicoine, Jr. Cherished sister of Helen Estabrook of Bedford and Ann Murphy of Everett, and predeceased by siblings Margaret Joyce, Theresa Joyce, and John Murphy. She was the loving grandmother of10 and great grandmother and aunt of many.
Mary’s funeral service will be private and there are no visiting hours. Her burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Bridgewater, Vermont will also be private.
