Obituary: Agnes (Christie) “Nancy” Lindgren, 90

January 2, 1931 – March 21, 2021

On Sunday, March 21, 2021, Agnes “Nancy” Lindgren passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family at the age of 90. Nancy was born on January 2, 1931, in Boston. She was the daughter of Donald and Betty Christie and sister Betty Smith. She lived most of her early life in Quincy and graduated from North Quincy High Class of 1948. She graduated from Boston University Secretarial School in 1950. She married her high school sweetheart Robert Lindgren in 1954.

She and her family moved to Reading in 1960. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years but returned to the workplace first as a manuscript typist for Addison Wesley then for 25 years as the secretary of the guidance department at Reading Memorial High School.

Her love of music did not go to waste. A beautiful pianist and soprano, she was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd choir for more than 50 years. Her talents also included being an avid gardener, baker, and expert knitter. Known to her grandchildren as “Gree”, she always had a batch of cookies at the ready.

She enjoyed following all of her grandchildren’s activities through high school and college – never missing a game, dance recital or school activity,

She is survived by her daughters, Kristi Toczylowski and husband Jesse, Roberta Lindgren and Amy Browne, and husband William. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren – Sarah, Robert and Emily Toczylowski, and Jillian Richardson.

Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share her memories with her family on Thursday from 9 am to 10:30 am in the Doherty Barile Family Funeral Home 11 Linden St. READING. Parking attendants and an elevator available. Due to state regulations for Covid-19, a mask is required while in the funeral home and not more than 50% capacity in the funeral home at one time.
