Highly Successful Reading 375 Returns Funds to the Celebration Trust

Reading, MA — A little over two years ago, when Reading 375 was preparing the schedule for this past spring’s celebration it applied to the Celebration Trust for seed money to cover upfront costs. The Trust was established 25 years ago following the successful Reading’s 350th events, with the funds earmarked for future town observances. The Celebration Trust showed confidence in the planned 2019 celebration by approving a payment of $20,000. At the time the money was awarded it was expressed that the committee would return as much of the grant as possible at the conclusion of the events so that it could be used again for future celebrations.

On Tuesday the Reading 375 Committee returned the entire amount, from profits made by the celebration. The 375 group said that the money was invaluable because it ensured that all bills could be paid. Trust Committee Chair Everett Blodgett expressed his and his committee’s gratitude on the return of the money and further stated that “the celebration was awesome.”

In attendance from the 375 Committee were Chair Philip Rushworth, Treasurer Ace Foulds, and Vice-Chair Alan Foulds.
