Groton resident, Craig John, will present a multimedia program on his ascents of Mt. Everest. Craig first climbed Everest in 1998 by the North Ridge on the Tibetan side of the mountain. In 2018 he returned to Everest to make an ascent by the Southeast Ridge in Nepal.
Craig has been a professional Mountain Guide for 33 years and guides for International Mountain Guides based in Washington state just outside of Mt. Rainier National Park. He has led over sixty-five high altitude expeditions to all corners of the world including fourteen Himalayan expeditions, 25 to Kilimanjaro, 10 to Denali, several to Aconcagua, the Mexican volcanoes and other peaks around the world. In addition to Everest, he has two ascents of Cho Oyu. Domestically Craig has climbed ice, rock and alpine routes all over the U.S. He has a Master’s Degree in Applied Behavioral Science.
