Arts Reading is pleased to announce that its second annual festival, “Discover the Arts Cultural Festival”, will take place on October 5 from 10 AM-2 PM on the Reading town common. The rain date is October 6 from 1-5 pm. This event will focus on arts and culture in Reading. Visit a booth and find out what that organization is all about and what upcoming events they have planned. Perhaps their mission would be of interest to you and your family. Ask how to get involved!
Arts and cultural groups that will be participating that day are Arts Reading, BeatHeart Foundation, Reading Community Singers, Creative Arts, Quannapowitt Players, Reading Public Library, Colonial Chorus Players, Reading Symphony Orchestra, Reading Art Association, Reading Historical Commission, Reading Police department, Communitas, Everett and Ginny Blodgett, New England School of Performing Arts, Northeast School of Ballet, and Ivy Chord Coffeehouse. Entertainment will be provided by CBTween, Teal Street Jazz Quartet, Creative Arts, Linen, and Lace Historical Irish Music, and New England School of Performing Arts.
Arts Reading was formed in 2014 with two goals: gather the arts and cultural groups in town under its umbrella to advocate for the arts in Reading and lead the effort in creating a cultural district in downtown. We have a lot of work to do to accomplish the latter and welcome new members and new ideas. We have a website, www.artsreading.org with a calendar listing many of the cultural events in town. And we have a Facebook page, www.facebook.com/ArtsReadingMA.
If your organization would like to join with us, e-mail us at artsreadingma@gmail.com and tell us who will represent the organization at meetings. If you are an artist and would like to join us as an individual, e-mail us. We meet once a month, usually the third Thursday at the Reading Town Hall at 7 PM. Please join us and help us accomplish our goals.
