Reading Police and Fire Respond to House Fire

Reading, MA — Deputy Police Chief David Clark and Fire Chief Gregory Burns report that the Reading Police and Fire Departments are at the scene of a three-alarm house fire.

Firefighters responded to 54 Temple St. to approximately 3 p.m. A second alarm was struck upon the arrival of the first fire companies, who reported heavy fire showing from a wood-frame dwelling. A third alarm was struck shortly afterward.

No one was injured, and fire crews brought the fire under control after about 40 minutes.

The fire location is across the street from the Parker Middle School, and for safety reasons the school is dismissing to King Street today. Reading Police are on scene to assist with traffic.

Fire crews from North Reading, Wakefield, Woburn, Wilmington, Stoneham, Burlington, Lynnfield and Melrose have responded to the scene.

Motorists are strongly cautioned to avoid the area if possible at this time.
