RMLD Invites Local High School Students to Participate in a Summer Art Contest

Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) invites students from Reading, North Reading, Wilmington, and areas of Lynnfield served by RMLD that are entering grades nine through twelve to showcase their creativity by participating in an electricity themed summer art contest. Various art mediums will be accepted, including, but not limited to: drawings, paintings, photography, and graphic art. All submissions must be the original work of the student submitting the entry.

Students who wish to participate must attend an educational session at RMLD’s main office located at 230 Ash Street, Reading, on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 6pm to learn about the requirements of the contest. Attendance is required for contest entry. Pizza will be served and limited art supplies will be distributed to those in attendance.

Finished artwork is due by Friday, August 18, 2017 at 3pm. The winning art will be announced during an awards ceremony held at 230 Ash Street, Reading, on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 6pm.

Each participating student will receive a certificate for four hours of community service for taking part in the contest. The first-place winner will receive a $100 Staples gift card and the chance to be featured on the cover of RMLD’s FY 17 Annual Report; the second-place winner will receive a $50 Staples gift card; and the third-place winner will receive a $25 Staples gift card.
