The next Water/Sewer/Storm Water bills will be mailed on June 9, and payment is due by 5:30 p.m. on July 17. Payments not received by that date will accrue interest daily at an annual rate of 14% until payment is received. Postmarks are not accepted. The white mail box in the parking lot will be emptied by the close of business on each payment due date.
The Preliminary Real Estate/Personal Property tax bills for Fiscal Year 2018 will be mailed by June 30. Payment is due by August 1. Effective January 1, 2014 the town is no longer mailing payment reminders before imposing the demand fees on unpaid bills.
Payment can be made by debit or credit card through Reading’s online payment service; the link is available on the homepage of the Town’s website (www.readingma.gov). If residents are using an online bill payment service through their bank, the Town reminds residents to allow plenty of time for the bank to mail a check to Town Hall. Most banks require 7 – 10 business days to guarantee on-time payment. Residents are also reminded to verify that they have the proper bill number or account number referenced on their payment. Bill numbers change each time and are often not updated on the online bill payment checks which can result in misapplied payments.
The town of Reading can not receive electronic payments from banks unless residents use the link from the town website. If residents choose to use this link, they may pay up until the due date and the payment will be considered on time by the town.
