SportsZone 101 announces a baseball clinic for players aged 6-15 on Saturday, February 25, from 12:00-1:30 at Athletic Evolution. This clinic is one of a kind and limited to 50 participants. Leading the clinic will be former RMHS baseball coach, Pete Moscariello. The clinic will have intensive instruction in proper baseball mechanics and techniques. Comprehensive instruction in the proper fundamentals of hitting, throwing, fielding, pitching, bunting, infield play, and outfield play will all be included. Players will improve specific skills through drills, demonstrations, and scrimmages. Participants will be split up by age.
Coach Moscariello was a teacher in the RMHS math department and head coach of the RMHS baseball team for 35 years. During that time the team compiled a .729 winning percentage and won 14 league championships, including one state championship. Coach Moscariello was an eight time Middlesex League Coach of the Year and was twice recognized by the Boston Globe as Division II Coach of the Year. He is a member of the Massachusetts Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame as well as the RMHS Hall of Fame. Coach Moscariello owned and directed the Reading Baseball School for 30 years.
Since it began in 2009, SportsZone 101 has had one goal: to positively impact the lives of students using the power of sports. Each program gives the chance to impart the lessons learned, whether as athletes, students, or men and women, to the next generation. Though athletics are the primary foundation for the programs that are offered, all programs are tailored to reinforce what has been learned in the classroom.
