Meadow Brook Golf Club Raises $58,770 for Breast Cancer Research

14th Weekend for a Cure brings tournament’s total fundraising to $357,529 for the ESSCO-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund

Reading, MA — Meadow Brook Golf Club hosted its 14th Weekend for a Cure on July 19, raising $58,770 for the ESSCO-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund. The 2026 event brings the tournament’s total fundraising since its inception to $357,529 in support of innovative breast cancer research at MGH.

A total of 109 golfers teed off in a traditional scramble-style tournament, with a few surprises along the course. Fifty-five sponsors—including members, friends, local businesses, and organizations connected to the club and the Reading community—had their messages and logos displayed throughout the course.

An anonymous donor also offered a $10,000 match for all funds raised through sponsorships. Members and guests supported the cause throughout the week through silent auctions and raffles featuring items and experiences donated by local businesses and generous sponsors.

The weekend was organized by Meadow Brook members with extraordinary support from Head Pro Kevin Franey and his team, as well as Club Manager Ron Rice and his team. Weekend for a Cure remains a special event for Meadow Brook, and its continued success reflects the generosity and commitment of everyone involved. The tournament committee extends its sincere thanks to all who participated, volunteered their time, and contributed financial support.

Meadow Brook Golf Club has been part of the Reading community since 1898. A family-oriented club, Meadow Brook offers a full slate of golf, swim, and tennis activities, all supported by a professional staff.

The ESSCO-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund was established in 1994 with the goal of raising $5 million for an endowment to support breast cancer research at MGH in perpetuity. ESSCO-MGH is a zero-overhead organization, meaning every dollar raised goes directly to cancer research rather than to administrative or fundraising expenses.
