Dear Editor,

I am writing to endorse Melissa Murphy in her re-election bid for the Reading Select Board. Melissa has been a very positive force on the Board since her initial election just 11 months ago and we need her to continue to promote those issues that are in the best interest of Reading residents.

I had the great pleasure of working with Melissa as I promoted the use of irrigation meters here in Reading. She readily agreed to meet with me so I could present all the reasons why this change was the right thing for Reading residents. As many residents know, this restriction has been in place for well over 30 years. As a result of her work (along with the work of Chris Haley and Carlo Bacci), Reading residents will see a 50% reduction in the cost of outside water use beginning this July.

Reading needs Melissa to continue serving on the Board promoting the best interest of Reading residents. She has demonstrated the ability to provide common sense opinions about all matters that come before the Board. In her short time on the Board, she has made a significant difference in promoting responsible spending, realistic views on MBTA communities, water rates and being a wonderful resource for Reading residents in dealing with Town matters.

I strongly urge all residents to vote for Melissa Murphy in the upcoming Town election. Mail-in ballots can be requested now through April 1st and the election date is April 8th. I am confident that Melissa will continue to make a very positive impact to better the Town of Reading.
