Reading, MA — The schedule for Reading PorchFest 2024 is now online at ReadingPorchFest.com. It can be viewed at the site, and it can be downloaded for printing. With 94 acts this year, the schedule takes up three full pages. During the week, an interactive map of the 46 venues, complete with performance times, will also be found at the site.
When speaking of the amazing number of musical performances this year, co-chair Ace Foulds wryly commented, “If you’re keeping score, that’s 62 more acts than Woodstock.”
The other co-chair, Alan Foulds, commented on a connection that Reading has to that famous upstate New York Concert of so long ago. He said that back in 1994, as Reading was celebrating its 350th anniversary, a concert was held at Birch Meadow using one of the stages actually used at Woodstock. Foulds, who chaired the 350th, added, “I’m not sure if that’s fact or legend, but when we rented it, we were told of its history. It’s a great story, so I’m not going to look any deeper into it.”
Those 94 acts are spread throughout the town at 46 locations. These temporary music venues consist of porches, driveways, front lawns, and side yards. In a few cases, they are located at churches, the brand-new Mattera Pavilion, and even on the deck of Reading’s newest restaurant. All performances are free and open to the public from noon to six this Saturday, June 22nd.
