“Our Town, Our Neighbors” Series Connects Residents With Local Businesses And The People Behind Them

Reading, MA — The Residence at Pearl Street, a senior living community in Reading, recently held its third “Our Town, Our Neighbors” event, a series designed to connect residents and community associates with local businesses, explore their histories, and meet the people who help shape Reading’s vibrant community.
As part of the series, residents and associates visited The Chocolate Truffle, a family-run, old-fashioned candy store owned and operated by Craig and Jennifer Burkinshaw. Craig is a fourth-generation confectioner who grew up in the candy business and had always dreamed of owning his own candy shop.
Residents admired the shop’s beauty, which features an array of handmade truffles and artisanal treats. They enjoyed learning about the store’s history, hearing Craig and Jennifer’s story, and sampling delicious confections.
“Thank you to Craig and Jennifer for being so kind, warm, and welcoming to our community. They truly made our day extra sweet!” said Beverly Curry, Resident Engagement Director at The Residence at Pearl Street. “We think everyone should visit their fantastic store,” she added.
