Dear Editor,

John and I will be voting “Yes” for the override on the November ballot, continuing our tradition of supporting well-considered, necessary operating overrides to support our schools, public safety services, and other municipal services that provide the foundation for Reading to be the great community it is.

As long-time town meeting members we have followed the town budgets for many years and believe that Reading, through its professional staff, Finance Committee, and Town Meeting, makes smart financial decisions about the use of our taxpayer dollars.

Our four children are all graduates of RMHS and we are grateful for the education they received. We want today’s children to have at least the same, or better. Very few communities can maintain services year after year without periodically passing an operating override. This year it is our turn to step up and say “Yes” for Reading.
