Marguerite Joan Doucette Young went to be with the Lord on August 5, 2026. She passed away peacefully after a short illness and was visited by a multitude of family and friends during a brief hospital stay.
Marguerite was born in Reading, MA, on July 7, 1937, the sixth of eight children to Gertrude and Joseph Doucette. She lived in North Reading MA and Lawrence MA, she met Robert Young from Lawrence, MA, whom she married in 1957. Their marriage lasted 67 years. After short stints in Duluth, MN, and Rome, NY, the couple settled in Vestal, NY, for several years before a final move to North Carolina.
Marguerite was a devoted churchgoer and attended Our Lady of Sorrows in Vestal, NY, and embraced both the Catholic and Pentecostal Faiths, possessing a strong devotion to Jesus. She tried to instill in her children a sense of charity and care for the less fortunate, both locally and around the world. Her home in Vestal, NY, was often a refuge for many foster children and those in need. Marguerite Doucette Young gave generously to numerous charities and causes.
She loved gardening, her various cats and dogs, and could play a mean game of cribbage. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the Bible most of all. She was an accomplished cook and passed on that knowledge to her daughters. She was proud of all her children and their many skills. They inherited her indomitable Doucette spirit, honesty, and keen sense of humor.
Marguerite was predeceased by her husband, Robert Young Sr.; her beloved daughter, Julie, and grandson, Jesse; her sisters, Mary and Shirley (Frank Angelini); and her brothers, Tom, his wife Margaret, and James (Phyliss Doucette). Marguerite is survived by her brothers Jackie (Emilie Doucette), Arnold (Marlene Doucette), and her sister Jean (Wally Cox). Her children Robert Jr, Darlene, Linda, Lawrence (Zornitza Young), and Daniel Young. Marguerite is also survived by eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a multitude of nephews and nieces.
