Obituary: Brian David Mosier, 42

January 29, 1984 – March 31, 2026

Brian David Mosier of Somerville and Reading, formerly of Wakefield, passed away suddenly on March 31, 2026.  He was 42 years of age. Brian was born on January 29, 1984, in Boston, Massachusetts, the cherished son of Alan S. Mosier and Beth Gorsun Mosier of Reading.

As a child, Brian was bright, curious, tender, caring, and artistic. He acted for many years, often stealing the show with his creative performance and talent. Always a responsible and thoughtful Boy Scout, his friends joked that he was the “dad” and the “mom” of the friend group. Brian always looked forward to the annual camping trip with his grandparents, brother, and friends, which always included horseback riding, amusement parks, and fun talks around the campfire. Growing up in a multigenerational household, Brian had an affinity for helping others early on, as a young caregiver for his aging Grammy and Papa.

Brian grew up in Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield High School in 2002. In high school, he enjoyed running track, especially when he was up against his best friend from the neighboring town of Reading. He was a member of the marching band and played percussion, cheered on by his enthusiastic band parents. Outside of school, Brian enjoyed intermural soccer and playing video games and Dungeons and Dragons with his lifelong friends. He attended Fitchburg State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Communications & Media in 2007. Always a creative, he received multiple awards for films he wrote and directed in high school and college, often recruiting friends and family to serve as cast and crew in his productions.

His first professional role was at WGBH working for the Antiques Roadshow. Over the years, he decided to pursue his other passion – computer science – via coursework and self-study. This led to multiple positions in the software industry, most recently as a Software Engineer at Cimpress Technology in the division of Artwork Technology.

Brian was a true family man, caring for his parents, his brother Jeff, and especially his beloved partner Karen, and her three children – Kate, Drew, and Hans – who loved him dearly as their stepdad. Drew and Brian bonded quickly over their shared love of video games, scary movies, and rock climbing. Over the years Drew and Brian had together, not only was Brian an amazing father figure teaching life lessons, but he was also a wonderful friend. They became very close and spent a lot of time together. Kate also treasured her time with Brian, whether it was sticking stickers all over his face, going to the Barbie movie with her mom, Beth, and Brian in a pink tutu, or the annual trip to Screemfest at Canobie Lake Park. At home, Brian fathered Kate by helping her with homework, cuddling up to watch favorite shows together, and carrying her down the stairs on the Bmo Bus. The kids loved special family celebrations for hibachi dinners with Beth and Al, with the tradition of the chopstick walrus.

In addition to his parents Brian is survived by his devoted brother Jeffrey Mosier and his spouse Edward Gargiulo, his beloved partner Karen Twomey Dankers and her 3 children Kate, Drew, and Hans. He was the loving grandson of the late Josephine and Arthur Gorsun and the late June and Eugene Mosier.  He is also survived by many loving cousins, uncles, aunts, and friends. We all love and miss Brian and wish we could have had a lot more time with him.

Brian’s impact on our lives cannot be overstated.  He was a beacon of joy and creativity, a source of comfort and fun. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will be live on in the countless ways he touched our lives. His legacy of love, his wicked sense of humor, and compassion will continue to inspire us every day.

A visitation will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Monday, April 13, 2026, from 3:00pm-5:00pm.  A celebration of Brian’s life will be held immediately following the visitation at the funeral home.
