Herrick, Bramante Win Select Board Seats; Gaffen and Coram Elected to School Committee
Reading, MA — Unofficial results from Reading’s annual local election, held Tuesday, April 7, 2026, have been released, with contested races for Select Board and School Committee drawing strong voter participation.
In the Select Board race, Karen Gately Herrick led all candidates with 2,401 votes, followed by Salvatore Bramante with 2,350 votes. Anthony D’Arezzo received 2,275 votes, and incumbent Carlo Bacci received 2,271 votes. Herrick and Bramante will fill the two available seats.
For School Committee, incumbent Erin Gaffen secured reelection with 3,010 votes, while Geoffrey Coram earned the second seat with 2,560 votes. Lori Hayes received 2,314 votes.
The proposed charter changes ballot question also passed, with 3,021 votes in favor and 1,406 votes opposed, out of 4,934 total votes cast.
Several candidates ran unopposed and were elected to their respective positions. Alan Foulds received 3,546 votes for Town Moderator. On the Board of Library Trustees, Monette Dugas Verrier received 3,207 votes, and Christian “Cappy” Popp received 3,157 votes. Robert Coulter received 3,772 votes for Municipal Light Board.
