I hope you will join me in voting to re-elect Karen Herrick to the Reading Select Board on or before April 7.  Her many years of service to Reading in multiple capacities make her by far the most experienced candidate and member of the Select Board.

Karen is thoughtful, inquisitive, and deeply committed to Reading. She works tirelessly to hold town government accountable to the residents of Reading. In her 6 years on the Select Board Karen has led the way in making Reading more environmentally friendly and in obtaining Green Community certification, which makes the Town eligible for state grants.

She has led the efforts to get Reading more state grants in general and to save homeowners money on their property tax by requiring commercial property to pay a bit more. She is strongly focused on fiscal responsibility and keeping the Town as affordable as possible for all its residents.

Karen led the effort that hired Fidel Maltez as Reading’s Town Manager. Widely praised for his work, Fidel unfortunately was hired back by his previous employer to become the City Manager in Chelsea. He left us with an excellent model for what a strong, committed Town Manager can achieve.

We need Karen’s continued leadership on the Select Board. Please join me in voting for Karen Herrick for Select Board in the April 7 town election.

Thank you for your consideration.

Alice Collins, Precinct 7
