Wakefield, MA — In honor of the Arts Collaborative of Wakefield’s fifteenth anniversary, we invite artists to join our spring art exhibition, Past Tense. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Katherine Anne Porter once noted, “The past is never where you think you left it.” Similarly, writer John Banville stated, “The past beats inside me like a second heart.” Each of us has a personal past, or ‘past tense,’ and we are also part of a larger historical narrative. Consider what ‘past tense’ means to you… Does it involve reflecting on the past or looking forward to the future? Is it about growth, loss, or transformation? Does it represent an ending or a new beginning?
The deadline to enter the exhibit is March 27, 2026. The Past Tense Art Exhibit, fundraiser, and sale will be held on Fridays, April 3, 10, 17, and 24, from 5:00-8:00, and on Saturdays, April 4, 11, and 18, from 11:00-2:00, at the Albion Cultural Exchange. For more information on the exhibit, art submission, registration, hosting, and more, visit artscollaborativeofwakefield.com. Get creative and contemplate what ‘Past Tense’ signifies to you as you complete your artwork!
