Linda C. (Magaldi) Iannaccone, of Reading, formerly of Medford, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2nd, at the Lahey Hospital in Burlington. Linda was the cherished daughter of the late Sam and Florence (DiMarzo) Magaldi. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage, and by her beloved daughter, Debra (Julin). She is survived by her daughter, Diane Amerault, and her husband, Bob; her son-in-law, Erik Julin; and her three grandchildren, Robert, Amanda Amerault, and Magnus Julin. She is also survived by her sisters Marie Emma and Nancy Olivolo.
Linda was born in East Boston and raised in Medford, graduating from Medford High School in 1957. She was a school crossing guard, working at the corner of George and Winthrop Streets, crossing students going to the Dame School. She eventually joined the Medford Chamber of Commerce, ultimately serving as its Executive Director. Linda was honored and named “Citizen of the Year” and given the Key to the City in April of 2003.
Linda`s grandchildren were literally the lights of her life. Her first grandchild, Robert, coined the name “NIA” for her as soon as he could speak, and the name stuck. She was instrumental in every way in the raising of Robert, Amanda, and Magnus, and had a profound impact on all three of them. They will dearly miss their “Nia”.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 14th, at 10 a.m. at St. Raphael Church, 516 High St., Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Please go directly to the church. Visiting hours have been respectfully omitted. Services will conclude with interment at Medford’s Oak Grove Cemetery.
