Obituary: Jeannine B. (Chandonnet) Walker, 85

January 10, 1940 – January 8, 2026

Jeannine Walker, loving mother of three daughters, and adoring wife of the now deceased Warren Walker, passed away on January 8th, 2026, at the age of eighty-five.

Jeannine was a woman of grace, strength, and boundless compassion. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts; she grew up with a heart full of kindness and a spirit that embraced life’s challenges with courage. She dedicated her life to nurturing her family, providing us with patience and unconditional love.

Her laughter could light up a room; her kindness touched countless lives and her unwavering faith in the goodness of people inspired all who knew her. Whether she was cultivating her garden, using her gifted artistic abilities, or offering a listening ear, she gave of herself freely and without expectation.

Jeannine worked as a secretary at Raytheon where she met her beloved husband, Warren. She briefly lived in Burlington, Massachusetts before settling permanently in Reading, Massachusetts. Before the birth of her children, Jeannine performed volunteer work with developmentally disabled children. Jeannine devoted many years to teaching CCD alongside her husband, Warren, serving as an active and resolute member of the Catholic community. She also participated in the church choir.

Jeannine was an expert at gardening and maintained a beautiful yard that neighbors would love to come by and view. She spent countless hours creating backdrops and props for her daughter’s elementary schools’ musicals.

She had a passion for decorating for the holidays to make things even more special for her family. She was known in her neighborhood for creating interactive haunted house displays, once holding a charity haunted house to raise money for the Pine Street Inn.

Jeanine was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Warren Walker, and her sisters Dorothy Turcotte and Constance Cote. She is survived by her siblings Louis Chandonnet of Ellis, Maine; and Gloria St. Laurent of Dracut Massachusetts; her children Michele DeMartinis & husband Guy of Reading, MA; Melissa & husband John Mendez of Reading, MA; Jennifer & husband Stephen Polidoro of Reading, MA; and grandchildren Stephen, Natalie, Sophie, Maxwell, Jack, and Amy.

Jeannine’s funeral will be held from the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 9:30AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Agness Church 186 Woburn St. Reading, Massachusetts. Burial will follow at Charles lawn Cemetery in Reading. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday January 11, 2026, from 4pm-7pm.
