Lee B. (Burnes) McPhail, age 90, of Tewksbury, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Lee was born in Cambridge, MA, on February 11, 1935, and grew up in Reading, MA. She was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Florence Campana.
She was a graduate of Reading Memorial High School and Katherine Gibbs, where she was trained to be an office administrator. She put these skills to use working at her long-time employer, Raffi and Swanson.
Lee, a longtime resident of Tewksbury, was married to the late Charles (Charlie) E. McPhail, and together they raised their family in the house that they built together.
Lee loved gardening, tea parties with her grandchildren, Thursday nights out with her girlfriends, Patti, Nancy, and Jeanette, planning and attending reunions for her high school graduating class, and her second home, a log cabin in Sanford, ME. There, she had many cherished memories with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She also loved her dogs, Riley and Karma. Later in life she especially adored visits from her great grandchildren and grand-dog Toby.
Lee is survived by her son Charles E. McPhail Jr., and his wife Deborah of Tewksbury, her daughter, Nancie L. Fogg, and her late husband John of Tewksbury: two granddaughters, Shauna L. McPhail of Tewksbury and Kristen M. Palmerino and her husband Tom of Dracut: as well as their four children, Olivia, Kaleigh, Aubre,e and Sophia. Lee is also survived by her brother James Campana and his wife Irene of Waltham, as well as several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Lee is predeceased by her loving husband Charles E McPhail, daughter Deborah Lee McPhail, brother Richard Campana, and nephew Jason Campana.
Calling hours will be Monday, November 10th, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, immediately followed by services at 11 a.m. to be held in the funeral home. Services will conclude with interment at Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East Street, Tewksbury.
