Second Annual Community Music Fest is a Celebration of Live Music and the Importance of Local Music Education
WAKEFIELD, MA – The second annual Wakefield Porchfest will take place today, Saturday, September 6, 2025, 12-6 p.m., and will feature 134 musical acts hosted at 67 homes, small businesses, churches, and nonprofits across the community. Volunteer organizers recently launched the official schedule for the 2025 event, including an interactive map that highlights the venues across the community.
The community-wide event includes a focus on:
- Improving access to live music across town.
- Engaging Wakefield small businesses with opportunities to host local musicians.
- Supporting music education across Wakefield schools and small businesses providing music lessons.
- Creating performance opportunities for kids.
Wakefield Porchfest will feature a mix of all-ages music, spanning many different styles. Included in the lineup is a Youth Music Showcase at 11 Pearl Street from 12-2 p.m., as well as a solid lineup of kid-led bands at venues across town, providing opportunities for young musicians to hone their skills.
In spring 2025, Wakefield was named one of the “Best Communities for Music Education” in the United States for the 14th time by the national NAMM Foundation.
The 2025 event has grown since the inaugural Porchfest held in September 2024, which featured 105 acts at 50 locations across the North Shore town, and the event has added new community sponsors, with 11 organizations sponsoring this year.
Wakefield is one of more than 200 communities that host a Porchfest, according to organizers in Ithaca, NY, which launched the first iteration of the community-focused music event in 2007.
